Olivia means it when she says she was born because into music. Her parents met when her mother auditioned for her father's wedding band, and the rest was history. Growing up, Olivia would watch intently in the basement as her parents rehearsed-and sometimes she would even get to use a microphone. Though, she never could quite figure out why her mom's microphone had a "stringy thing," and hers did not. Today, she realizes that "stringy thing," was a microphone chord...
Olivia's love for musical theater was first ignited at the University of Hartford's Summer Place Player's program where she performed as a featured singer in the Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic, “Oklahoma!” At the Summer Place, Olivia met her voice teacher of ten years, Benjamin Rauch, who encouraged her to look into the musical theater program at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, where Olivia (Liv) would graduate first in her class.
Liv felt at home when she returned to the University of Hartford for her audition for the Musical Theater department at The Hartt School. There, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater, as well as a bachelor’s in English.
Olivia’s love for English lead her to pursue a master’s degree in English Education at The University of Connecticut. She currently works at the middle school she attended as a student, John Wallace Middle School, as a reading interventionist.
Though the pandemic has made performing on stage challenging, Olivia has found solace in performing (with social distancing!) with her band, “School Daze,” which is made up of current and past teachers-some of which Olivia had as a student!
